The Be-Attitudes, pt 3

The world we live in generally prefers power, ambition, and assertiveness, and meekness is a quality that is frequently misunderstood or even looked down upon. Many people equate meekness with weakness or passivity, an indifference that leads to inaction. But when Jesus speaks of the meek, He points to a much deeper, richer, stronger character trait. Meekness is an attitude that reflects the heart of God and catches the eye of God!

In biblical terms, meekness is not weakness; it is strength under control. The Greek word used here for ‘meek’ can also be translated as ‘gentle’ or ‘humble’, but it carries the idea of power that is restrained, not absent!
