Postcards From Heaven, pt 6

In our text, Jesus highlights His SOVEREIGNTY and His AUTHORITY by using an analogy of a key and a door.

This was something that most anyone could understand…a key and a door. "[He] has the key of David, who opens and no one will shut, who shuts and no one opens." It may seem like the analogy is mis-used…not only it is not mis-used, it is not to be misunderstood! If we know anything about the sovereignty of God, it’s that He can open doors that no man can shut, and He can close doors that no man can open! I’ll go one step farther…even the devil can’t open what God closes or close what God opens!
