In Mark 10:17–22, the Rich Young Ruler comes running to Jesus with an earnest desire for eternal life. He is successful, moral, religious, and wealthy—but Jesus sees something beneath the surface that even the young man may not recognize. His possessions have become more than mere possessions; they reveal what he values, what he trusts, and ultimately whom he is willing to follow.
Our greatest treasure will always determine our greatest devotion. May we discover that nothing we possess can compare with the treasure of knowing and following Jesus Christ.
