Prayer doesn’t start with us, because it’s not about us…but God. And if it’s about God, then we ought to acknowledge who He is before we fixate on what He’s done. Adoration re-focuses our hearts. It reminds us of who God is, and in turn, it reminds us of who we are in Him. When prayer starts with God, everything else finds its proper place…confession becomes more honest, thanksgiving more heartfelt, and supplication more trusting.
